2nd Spring Term 2019
English – This half term, we will be reading a book called Bill’s New Frock by Anne Fine and discussing stereo-typing. We will also be reading and writing our own plays later in the term.
Spellings – Spellings are handed out every Monday; the children will be tested on these spellings on a Friday.
Maths – This half term, we will be carrying out a lot of work on shapes, including 2-d shapes, 3-d shapes and their nets. We will also be continuing to do Big Maths every Friday.
Topic – For our new topic, we will be travelling back in time to MesoAmerica, to the time of the Ancient Maya and learning about what life was like back then. We will also be comparing and contrasting this ancient culture to that of the Ancient Egyptians and that of our own culture today.
Homework – Homework is handed out every Friday and is due back by the following Tuesday. Normally, it will consist of Maths and English, however, once every half term, the children will be set a Learning Log Challenge to complete. (They will be given 2 weeks to complete it and hand it back in – dates for completion are given out at the same time as the challenge)
Reading – Children are expected to read every night. This could consist of their school reading book or reading material from home. Please would you sign their reading record book when you hear them read.
PE – Our PE day is Monday. Please ensure that your child has a PE kit which consists of: white t-shirt, black shorts/leggings/joggers and pumps/trainers.
