English – This half term, we will be learning and reading about explanation texts; linking it to our USA topic. We will also be reading books written by David Walliams and writing our own stories based on one of these texts.
Spellings – Spellings are handed out every Monday; the children will be tested on these spellings on a Friday.
Maths – This half term, we will be reading and interpreting line graphs. We will also be looking at time – in particular time tables. Big Maths will still be happening every Friday.
Topic – Our new topic title is: ‘Where in the World is the USA?’ We will be learning about different geographical aspects such as states, time zones and cities. We will also be creative and be learning how to draw using perspective.
Homework – Homework is handed out every Friday and is due back by the following Tuesday. Normally, it will consist of Maths and English, however, once every half term, the children will be set a Learning Log Challenge to complete. (They will be given 2 weeks to complete it and hand it back in – dates for completion are given out at the same time as the challenge)
Reading – Children are expected to read every night. This could consist of their school reading book or reading material from home. Please would you sign their reading record book when you hear them read.
PE – Our PE day is Monday. Please ensure that your child has a PE kit which consists of: white t-shirt, black shorts/leggings/joggers and pumps/trainers.
