Topic: Summer 2 term: Mexico and What's in the Ocean?
The children will compare Middleton to a village in Mexico. They will locate Mexico on a map and label continents and oceans.
They will learn about the language spoken and food eaten.
The children will find out about creatures that live in the sea.
English: Recount and factual writing
Maths: place value, reading & ordering numbers, subtraction, data handling
Reading: Please listen to your child read as often as possible. Help them to sound out words and to re-read sentences to develop fluency. Please ask simple questions to check they have understood the book.
Remind your child to put their book and reading record in the reading box as they enter school if it needs to be changed.
Homework: Your child will bring home a Maths task each week. This will be based on what they have been learning in school and they should be able to complete it with only a little support. Ask your child to place it in the homework box as they enter school when it is complete.
Learning Logs: Each half term your child will being home a special activity based on their topic work to complete. You can be as creative as you like with how you carry out and present the work. As much as possible should be done independently by the child. More information to follow with the first learning log.
