2nd Autumn Term 2020
Welcome to 1H!
This half term our topic is ‘Who Lives on Snow and Ice?’. We will be learning about the seven continents, animals that live in different climates and how it differs from where we live. We have lots of exciting activities to look forward to such as making 3D polar bears, experimenting with ice and making our very own snow!
We couldn’t go through December without thinking about Christmas too. We will be writing letters to Santa’s, adding instruments to music and all round, getting into the festive spirit.
In mathematic our focus is addition and subtraction calculations within 20. Plus, naming and identifying the properties of 2D and 3D shapes.
In literacy we are focusing on writing a sentence that an adult can read, leading to writing more than one sentence on an idea and using a connective to link ideas in a sentence.
In 1H we change the reading books every Monday and each child will receive two books to read throughout the week.
Each Friday homework will be set via Tapestry to be completed by the following Wednesday and your child will be given a spelling list on a Friday for a spelling check on Thursday.
PE is on a Monday morning and in Year 1 we get changed for PE. Please make sure your child has their PE kit with them on a Monday.
