1st Summer Term 2019
Welcome back after the Easter Holidays!
Attendance in Year 1 has been brilliant so far this year - thank you! Lets carry on the good work in to the Summer Term.
Our new topic for this half term is called 'What's Outside my Window?'
This half term in maths we will be learning about:
Word problems involving addition and subtraction
Simple multiplication involving 2's, 5's and 10's.
Finding fractions of shapes and numbers
This half term we will be:
Continuing to use sound buttons to help us read words in phonics
Reading stories and non-fiction texts linked to our topic involving mini beasts and planting
Learning how to use a dictionary and put words in to alphabetical order
Using alliteration in our writing
In Science we will be doing lots of planting and learning about what plants need to grow, including writing a Bean Diary.
In Geography we will be learning about the countries within the United Kingdom and their cities. We will also be looking at our local area and using Google maps in computing to locate our school and houses.
In Art we will be looking at paintings by Monet, Georgia O'Keeffe and Andy Warhol and creating our own masterpieces.
Wednesday: All children need a PE kit in school.
