Summer Term 2
Our topic this half term is, Fantastic Football Fever!
We will be learning about a range of sports, keeping healthy, The World Cup and comparing our country with Spain (another country that play in the World Cup).
We will also be visiting Rochdale Football Club on Tuesday 19th June for a tour around the stadium and multi-skills games.
On Wednesday 13th June Nursery, Reception and Year 1 will be watching a theatre production in the hall called ‘Whatever the Weather’.
In maths we will be:
Counting up to 100, counting in 2’s to 20, counting in 5’s to 100 and counting in 10’s to 100.
Finding one more or one less than a given number.
Using quantities and objects, to add and subtract two single-digit numbers.
Solving problems, including doubling, halving and sharing.
Exploring size, weight, capacity, position, distance, time and money.
Recognising, creating and describing patterns.
Exploring characteristics of everyday objects and shapes and use mathematical language to describe them.
In literacy we will be:
Learning to read and understand simple sentences.
Learning to read some common irregular words.
Talking about what we have read.
Using our phonic knowledge to decode regular words and read them aloud accurately.
Using our phonic knowledge to write words in ways which match their spoken sounds.
Writing some irregular common words.
Writing simple sentences which can be read by themselves and others.
Reception has PE on a Tuesday but do not get changed for PE.
On Thursday’s Reception children have the option of multi-sports after school and will need to bring a sports kit into school with them. Multi-sports finishes at 4.15pm and collection is from the hall doors.
Homework and red words are sent home every Friday and have to be returned to school by Wednesday.
Each group has a different day for changing their reading books:
Monday – Owls
Tuesday – Foxes
Wednesday – Squirrels
Thursday – Hedgehogs
Friday – Badgers
Please ensure your child brings a coat or a waterproof jacket to school every day. Even on a sunny morning the weather can change throughout the day and children need to have suitable clothing for going outdoors.
On a Sunny day please make sure that your child has sun cream on before they come to school and a sun hat.
It is important to bring your child into school every day and to reward 100% attendance we have special half termly attendance celebrations.
