1st Autumn Term 2018
The children have made a fantastic start to school and are already settling in so well and making new friends.
Our topic this half term is colour. We will explore the different colours in our world around us and the changing colours of Autumn. The children will also explore colour mixing and shades.
Please practise reading and writing the new phonics sound sent home each day (this sheet is to remain at home).
Homework books and red word books must be handed in on Wednesday.
You may change your class library book every Friday.
Reading books (when given out) and bookbags must be in school every day.
Bring in a pair of clearly named wellies that can stay at school for outdoor provision.
Practise counting things accurately (both in the home and while out and about). Make sure your child knows the last number they say is how many things there are altogether in a set. Can they recognise numbers? (Try reading door numbers/bus numbers etc) Can they try to write numbers?
Look out for all the new sounds and red words that you learn. Can you spot them while you are out shopping? Can you find them in the books that you share?
Get talking! We are encouraging the children to speak in full, clear sentences. If they miss out words or are lazy in saying the first or last sound as they speak it would help if you modeled the sentence for them and asked them to say it again.
Remember to let us know about any of the fun things the children get up to at the weekend or any clubs and activities the children do outside school.
Any concerns or worries- just come and ask!
